Preschool & Child Care Center
Childcare services were discontinued in March at the onset of the college’s transition to remote operations and have remain closed since that time. The extension of the remote operations period facilitated the decision to extend the Child Care Center closure through fall quarter. Updated information on the status of childcare services will be shared once determined by the college.
We regret any impact the center's closure creates for our college community and thank you for your understanding and support.
Information for families who are currently enrolled in the Child Care Center:
During remote operations, we will be providing currently enrolled families with regular email updates to include information regarding March billing, Spring Quarter enrollment schedules, and general center updates. For specific questions, please leave us a message through voice mail at 206-934-5348 or email at Lisa.Sever@seattlecolleges.edu. Voice mail and email will be checked on a regular basis.
The South Seattle College Preschool and Child Care Center has been serving the diverse needs of South Seattle College families since 1976. It is a state-certified center and is funded in part by college and student funds. The center is a place where children can develop positive attitudes about themselves and others, participate in age-appropriate learning experiences and opportunities, gain skills to deal with life situations and develop knowledge about their world while their parents pursue educational and professional goals.
South Seattle College's Preschool and Child Care Center was built in 1992 with children in mind. It is conveniently located on campus adjacent to the South Parking lot in Building 148. The center has large classroom spaces, a parent area, and an outdoor learning environment that includes climbing structures, bike path, gardening area, and a covered play area.
Ages and How to Enroll
South Seattle College students and employees with children between the ages of 18 months - 9 years old (primarily serve 18 months to age 5) are eligible to apply for enrollment. Enrollment is based on the number of spaces available and the parent's schedule. Children are enrolled on a pre-arranged, reserved schedule. Applications for enrollment are handled through the Child Care Office in Building 148. We welcome telephone inquiries and in-person visits.
A limited number of spaces for non-South Seattle College-affiliated community members may be offered depending on space availability. Please contact us for more information.
Hours of the center are 6:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. Child Care hours may vary during summer quarter and during quarter breaks. Please check with us regarding current hours and closure dates.
All schedules are pre-reserved for the quarter, and we do require a minimum number of enrollment hours per week. Please check our fees schedule for current cost information and our flexible scheduling options.

Lisa Sever, Child Care Center Manager, 206.934.5348 or Lisa.Sever@seattlecolleges.edu
A teaching staff trained in early childhood development creates a friendly and supportive learning environment. The Manager handles the overall management and supervision of the center. Four lead teachers plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for the children. Program Assistants and Work Study Students assist in the classroom, on the playground and at meals.
The staff is outstanding in their caring, professionalism and very responsive to the children's needs. The curriculum is inventive and there are always meaningful activities provided. The facilities are clean, organized and kid-friendly in every way.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, respectful of others.
It gives me peace of mind that my daughter is in a positive, learning environment while I concentrate on school and work. I believe that my success would be limited if I could not rely on the Child Care Center as I currently do.
The staff is putting a lot of effort in making the child's first school experience a positive one.
I highly recommend this child care to anyone that needs support with their children. It has made my life easier, allowing me to have more time to study and be successful with my studies.
The program is excellent!
