Food Pantry

Students tabling outside the SSC Food Pantry

Founded in 2017 by student leaders, South Seattle College’s on-campus Food Pantry addresses food insecurity for our students. In addition to providing essential food, we also carry toiletry items, and diapers for students in need.

If you can't afford groceries, are low on your EBT card, or are unsheltered and can't make it to the local food bank during class times, we are here
 for you!

We know you can't do your best in class on an empty stomach and we want to make sure you make it to the finish line!

If you are in urgent need to access the pantry, please visit the Office of Student Life in JMB 125 or email Monica.Lundberg@seattlecolleges.edu to schedule an appointment.

New Student Eligibility for SNAP/EBT

Washington state is now approving more low-income students to receive food assistance through the Basic Food Employment (BFET). ALL low-income students enrolled in certificates and degree programs, up to a 2-year degree, are now eligible for BFET.

Make an appointment with Benefits Hub to complete your application.

Basic Food is Washington state’s name for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Basic Food provides eligible individuals or households, including eligible students, with a monthly grocery benefit that is loaded onto an electronic benefits transfer card (EBT). This card and benefits can be used like a debit card to purchase groceries at grocery stores, online (for curbside pickup and delivery in some cases), and even at farmer's markets. A family of four can receive over $600 a month.
