The CLUE

A: There are two convenient ways to connect with a tutor – dropping-in for real-time help or scheduling an appointment to meet with a tutor at a future date.  To learn how to request either one, please click on the “Appointments” link above.

A: To get the most out of your tutoring session, bring with you the work you are seeking help with along with any instructions or guidelines from your instructor.

If you are getting help through Zoom, have these materials accessible on your system so you can share them through Zoom. Be sure that you know where on your system the files are saved so you can send them to the tutor through Zoom if necessary.

A: To engage in an online tutoring session, you'll need a computer equipped with a microphone for Zoom meetings. While a camera is highly beneficial for a more interactive experience, it's optional. If you're encountering issues or don't have the necessary equipment for Zoom, please click here for assistance.

A: Students are limited to two appointments per day; in other words, students will not be able to schedule more than two 30-minute appointments back-to-back with tutors on any given day.  In addition, students may only visit CLUE up to 3 times per assignment.

A: CLUE tutors are happy to assist you with grammar, sentence clarity, and other important aspects of editing a final draft, but they cannot correct grammar errors or revise your papers for you. They will offer instruction and valuable feedback, help you to recognize errors and guide you in how to edit your own writing. They will also give you helpful materials to take with you to practice the skills and learn to be a confident, independent writer.

A: If there are no students waiting to do a drop-in, you may still attend and have your tutoring session beyond the appointment time. However, if there are students waiting to do a drop-in session, they may be assigned to your tutor if you are more than five minutes late to your appointment.

A: We offer group tutoring for students who are working on a collaborative project, interested in practicing their conversation skills, or who are taking the same course and have similar questions.

To have a group tutoring session, your group can join the tutoring center's Zoom call or arrive at the in-person location on campus during open hours and do a drop-in tutoring session as a group. If you would like to set up a group tutoring session in advance, join the Zoom call and ask the tutor who greets you to help you set up a group tutoring appointment.
