Strategic & Operational Planning Information
Strategic Planning at South Seattle College
South Seattle College participates fully in the Seattle Colleges 2024–2034 Strategic Plan, which establishes shared goals and priorities for the district. While the district plan provides a common vision for advancing equity, student success, and institutional sustainability, each college is responsible for developing local action plans that bring the strategy to life within its unique community.
At South Seattle College, we translate district-wide goals into practical, measurable initiatives that address the specific needs of our students, employees, and partners in West and South Seattle. This means:
- Aligning with District Priorities: South’s planning is directly connected to the four overarching goals of the district plan, ensuring we contribute to collective progress across Seattle Colleges.
- Developing Local Action Plans: For each district goal, South identifies local strategies, projects, and resource needs that reflect our campus culture, student population, and community partnerships.
- Operationalizing Equity & Student Success: Equity and antiracism, central to the district plan, guide all of South’s action planning—from curriculum design and student support to hiring, training, and governance.
- Continuous Assessment & Improvement: South uses data to monitor progress on local initiatives, report outcomes transparently, and adjust strategies so they remain responsive to changing student and community needs.
Relationship Between District and Local Planning
- District Plan (2024–2034): Provides the long-term vision, mission alignment, and strategic directions for all Seattle Colleges.
- South Seattle College Action Planning: Translates those broad directions into operational steps, measurable outcomes, and campus-specific initiatives that drive daily practice and resource allocation.
In this way, the district plan offers the shared “north star,” while South Seattle College’s action plans serve as the on-the-ground roadmap for delivering results and ensuring accountability at the local level.
