Site Supervisor approval
The Site Supervisor is responsible for determining the Student Intern’s eligibility to participate in an internship, which includes background verification and will not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, race, creed, color, national origin, honorably discharged veteran or military status, or disability. The Site Supervisor will discuss the potential risks associated with the internship opportunity as well as provide appropriate safety instruction. The Site Supervisor will look into L&I Coverage for Student Interns.
If a problem arises after the Student Intern secures an internship, the college requests that the Site Supervisor first consult with the Student Intern and the ECS upon which the Site Supervisor reserves the right to discharge the student for just cause. The school may also terminate the agreement if the training site no longer accommodates educational requirements after due consultation with the Site Supervisor and Student Intern. The Site Supervisor shall complete an Employer Evaluation Form provided by the Student Intern upon completion of the internship credits.
*Washington State requires all students who register for Internship credits to develop a set of measurable Learning Objectives. This document refers to Learning Objectives as Learning Outcomes in alignment with the General Education Student Learning Outcomes outlined by South Seattle College. These statements clearly and precisely describe a result to be accomplished during the student’s work term and make internship unique from employment and volunteer opportunities.
