Action Planning

From Strategy to Action

South Seattle College uses action planning to translate the long-term goals of the Seattle Colleges Strategic Plan 2024–2034 into focused, measurable work across the college.

The District Strategic Plan establishes our shared long-term direction. At South, action planning connects those goals to the work of divisions, departments, programs, and teams by identifying specific actions, ownership, timelines, resources, and measures of progress.

Our goal is not to create another layer of planning. Action planning creates a repeatable cycle that connects institutional priorities to implementation, assessment, resources, learning, and decision-making.

Planning, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement

South’s action planning operates within the 10-year District Strategic Plan, with action plans refreshed every two years and progress reviewed annually.

Every two years, South reviews and refreshes its action plans based on institutional priorities, progress, evidence, and emerging needs.

Every year, project and strategy leads report on accomplishments, challenges, progress, and next steps. What we learn is used to adjust implementation and inform future priorities and resource decisions.

Action Planning Progress Reports

Progress reporting provides South with a regular opportunity to document accomplishments, identify challenges and resource needs, assess what we are learning, and determine next steps. These reports also provide the campus community with an ongoing view of how South is advancing its strategic priorities.
