Mission Fulfillment

South Seattle College defines mission fulfillment as the sustained demonstration of institutional effectiveness through achievement of outcomes aligned with its mission—to prepare each student for success in life and work, fostering a diverse, engaged, and dynamic community—and the Seattle Colleges District’s strategic priorities.

Mission fulfillment is operationalized through an integrated planning and evaluation framework anchored in the Seattle Colleges Strategic Plan 2024–2034 and South Seattle College’s local action planning. South Seattle College uses the District-level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) established in the Strategic Plan as the primary measures to track, monitor, and evaluate mission fulfillment at the college level, ensuring alignment between district priorities and local implementation.  

These KPIs assess progress in mission-critical areas, including student success and completion, equitable access and outcomes, teaching and learning effectiveness, employee experience, organizational sustainability, and community engagement. At South Seattle College, district-level KPIs are analyzed locally, disaggregated by student and employee populations where appropriate, and used to understand trends, identify equity gaps, and monitor progress over time.  

South Seattle College systematically uses KPI evidence to inform planning, prioritize resources, and implement improvement actions. Mission fulfillment is demonstrated not only by progress toward established benchmarks, but by the College’s documented use of district-aligned evidence to drive continuous improvement in service of its mission and community.

Mission Fulfillment Methodology

South Seattle College defines mission fulfillment as meeting the
following thresholds annually: ​

  • At least 16 of the 24 KPIs are at Complete or On Track and  ​
  • No more than 8 of the 24 KPIs are At Risk
