Foundation Scholarship Support

South Seattle College students applying for scholarships are fortunate to have philanthropic support from two foundations: Seattle Colleges Foundation and the South Seattle College Foundation.

NOTE: Simplified Scholarship Application for our Students - The South Seattle College Foundation and Seattle Colleges Foundation have partnered to create one application for all scholarship opportunities this year. The annual scholarship program for both foundations will be offered only once per academic year.  For any questions about the application, please reach out to the Seattle Colleges Foundation.

Seattle Colleges Foundation Scholarships

Established in 2018 to serve the entire Seattle Colleges district, Seattle Colleges Foundation offers a number of scholarships for which South Seattle College students may apply.

South Seattle College Foundation Scholarships

Since 1980, the South Seattle College Foundation has been invested in student success at South. During these years, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships to deserving students, helping them achieve their academic goals and progress toward stable and fulfilling careers.

Scholarships are awarded based on factors such as academic merit, financial need, program of study and school and community involvement.  These scholarships provide between one and three quarters of prepaid tuition.

Applying for Scholarships:

The 2020-21 scholarship application will open February 14, 2020, and close April 15, 2020

These scholarships are for incoming, current, international, and transferring students. Most scholarships are awarded in the spring for use during the following academic year. By completing one online application, students are considered for all appropriate scholarships. Students may be prompted to submit additional information to qualify for specific scholarship opportunities.

Application Requirements:

In addition to completing the required questions in the online application, you will need additional information and documentation as follows:

  • Unofficial college or high school transcript
  • Statement of Financial Need
  • Purpose Statement
  • Personal Statement
  • Two References; Name and email address for each
    • At least one reference should be a South faculty or staff member.
  • Resume – Optional

Special specific opportunities may require students to answer additional questions, provide an additional essay, or submit art work/design. To maximize the potential to be awarded a scholarship, students are encouraged to apply to these additional opportunities.
