South Seattle College students applying for scholarships are fortunate to have philanthropic support from two foundations: Seattle Colleges Foundation and the South Seattle College Foundation.
Note: the Seattle Colleges Foundation scholarship application is separate from the South Seattle College Foundation scholarship application. To be eligible for both opportunities, students must complete both application processes.
Seattle Colleges Foundation Scholarships
Established in 2018 to serve the entire Seattle Colleges district, Seattle Colleges Foundation offers a number of scholarships for which South Seattle College students may apply.
The Seattle Colleges Foundation scholarship application opens annually for all Seattle Colleges students. For the 2019-2020 academic school year, the application is open from February 15, 2019, to April 15, 2019. These scholarships are for incoming, current, international, and transferring students. Most scholarships are awarded in the spring for use during the following academic year, with some available on a quarterly basis. By completing one online application, students are considered for available scholarships. Students may be prompted to submit additional information to qualify for specific scholarship opportunities. For full information and access to the online application, visit: seattlecolleges.academicworks.com.

In addition to completing the required questions in the online application, students will need to provide unofficial college or high school transcripts, a personal statement, and contact information for two references. Optionally, students may also need to provide volunteer and work commitment details and a resume. Additional opportunities may require students to answer additional questions, provide an additional essay, or art work/design. To maximize a student’s potential of being awarded a scholarship, it is encouraged to apply to these additional opportunities.
More information on the Seattle Colleges Foundation and the scholarship application can be accessed through the Seattle Colleges Foundation FAQ sheet and through an instructional video for the general application.

South Seattle College Foundation Scholarships
Since 1980, the South Seattle College Foundation has been invested in student success at South. During these years, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships to deserving students, helping them achieve their academic goals and progress toward stable and fulfilling careers.
Students may apply for a South Seattle College Foundation scholarship twice each year, during the fall and winter quarter scholarship application periods. Scholarships are awarded based on factors such as academic merit, financial need, program of study and school and community involvement, and provide between one and three quarters of prepaid tuition.
To apply, students must complete the online application, which requires information about the student's financial situation, work and school history, a personal statement and two recommendations, with at least one from a South instructor or staff member.
Information for the next scholarship window (Fall Quarter 2019) will be posted at a future date.
