Foundation Scholarship Information

As a South Seattle College student, you have the opportunity to apply for scholarships from two different foundations. You can and should apply to both! 

Seattle Colleges Foundation Scholarships

Established in 2018 to serve the entire Seattle Colleges district (including South Seattle College, Seattle Central College and North Seattle College), the Seattle Colleges Foundation offers hundreds of scholarships that you can apply for with a simple, single application. For school year 2024-25, the average grant is $4,250.

South Seattle College Foundation Scholarships

Since 1980, the South Seattle College Foundation has been committed to supporting student success at South Seattle College. Over the years, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships to help students pursue their educational goals and move toward meaningful and fulfilling careers.

Scholarships are awarded based on factors such as academic merit, financial need, program of study, and school or community involvement.

Application Timeline: The scholarship application for the 2026–27 school year will open Monday, March 30, 2026, and close Friday, May 8, 2026. By completing a single application by 11:59 p.m. on the deadline, you’ll automatically be considered for most available scholarships.

Foundation scholarships for 2026–27 can help cover tuition, fees, and other educational expenses, including textbooks and supplies. Awards can be up to $2,000 per quarter for three quarters, for a total of up to $6,000 for the academic year. Awards can be used only at South Seattle College and are not transferable to Seattle Central or North Seattle Colleges.

Eligibility

General scholarships are open to a wide range of South Seattle College students, including:

  • Part-time and full-time SSC students
  • International students
  • BAS (Bachelor of Applied Science) students
  • Undocumented students
  • Running Start students graduating from high school this year
  • Current ESL/ABE students transitioning to college-level or professional/technical programs
  • Current students in the 2025–26 Seattle Promise cohort (and the 2024–25 cohort) who will be transitioning out in 2026–27, or who have already completed 90 credits toward their first associate degree under the Seattle Promise program

If you are a current Seattle Promise student planning to continue using Seattle Promise in 2026–27, you will not be eligible.
