South Seattle College Continuing Education Open House 

September 23, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Olympic Hall First Floor Foyer of the Main Campus. Meet instructors, enjoy demonstrations, learn about upcoming classes, and connect with others who share your interests. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free, parking is $7. Inclement Weather and School Closure Alerts

We are always crossing our fingers that we won't have a school closure due to weather or other unforeseen events, but in the event we do here's what you should do. 

Check for South Seattle College campus closure announcements, you may go to:

• The college homepage southseattle.edu or come back to this page for CE specific updates.
• Check your e-mail and/or cell phone for a message from the Campus Alert system (see farther down on how to sign up for alerts)
• The main college phone number at 206.934.5300 for a recorded message (Keep in mind that you're likely to get a busy signal as many people call in at the same time.)
• Local television and radio stations and Web sites 

Continuing Education will make every effort to send email notifications of class cancellations due to inclement weather. We will attempt to follow up with phone calls when possible.

Occasionally, the Continuing Education department will make more conservative closure decisions than the College. So if the conditions seem poor but South Seattle College is not announced as closed, we will send an email and try to post announcements on our website.

In the event that we must cancel sessions due to weather or other emergency-related events beyond our control, we’ll make every effort to accommodate students. However, we cannot guarantee makeup hours for classes cancelled as a result, nor can we provide refunds.

Campus Alert System

Visit FlashAlert.net:

• Click on Seattle on the map
• Either enter South Seattle College in the search box OR
  Select "Colleges and Universities" from the Organization Category list
• Click on the college's name and look for a message in the first box
• Take note of the message and confirm the "active dates" and time.
• If there is no message, South is open and classes are running.
• FlashAlert.net transmits messages to local television and radio stations.
• You may sign up to receive alerts directly to your email address.
