Winter 2020 Degree Conferral
The timeline for degree conferral for all South Seattle College students who have applied to graduate at the end of Winter Quarter 2020 is as follows:
March 30, 2020: Winter Quarter 2020 final grades will be available and the Evaluations Office will begin posting degrees and certificates on that day.
April 3, 2020: Posting of all Academic Transfer and Bachelor degrees (Associate of Arts/Business, Associate of Science-Transfer, Bachelor of Applied Science in Hospitality Mgmt, etc.) will be completed.
April 10, 2020: Posting of Professional & Technical degrees and certificates (Associate of Applied Science, Certificate in Automotive Technology, etc.) will be completed.
A letter/or email will be sent to students who did not complete required courses as planned. The letter will explain exactly which requirements/courses remain to complete and the student will need to meet with an adviser, who will assist to submit a new graduation application.
If we are able to return to campus as expected, students will receive a postcard notifying their diplomas are available for collection in the Registration Office. We expect to send the postcards one month after awards are conferred. In the event Campus closure is extended, there is a possibility diplomas will be mailed via USPS to students. We will send another communication if that happens.
It's important to note the only document accepted as proof of conferral in the United States is the sealed and official transcript, which can be ordered in advance at southseattle.edu/student-resources/transcripts-grades and will be produced on or after April 3rd, or 10th, as mentioned above.
Some international students might need their diplomas as proof of conferral. Students in these cases can make special arrangements for diploma collection by contacting the Evaluations Office at SEvaluations@seattlcolleges.edu.
Students Submitting a Graduation Application for Spring 2020
Update for April 30, 2020: A new graduation application deadline is in development now and will be posted shortly.
Students are still encouraged to work with an adviser who can guide them through the graduation application process. We realize meeting with an adviser may be more challenging during this time. In such cases, and for winter and spring graduates only, the application may be sent directly to SEvaluations@seattlecolleges.edu for processing.
