The South Seattle Community College Upward Bound Program, which serves students at Tyee and Evergreen High Schools, received its initial funding in 1996.
During the academic year, the Learning Specialists teach a daily UB class at the target schools. The class curriculum covers various college preparation topics which include but are not limited to study skills, writing, career exploration, and test taking strategies. Students receive elective graduation credits for the class.
The six-week non-residential summer program is held on the campus of South Seattle Community College. Students are offered an integrated curriculum on core academic subjects, e.g., science, language arts, foreign language, math, and humanities. Students also receive elective graduation credits for completion of the UB Summer Program.
