| Basic & Transitional Studies
Programs in this department are for those whose education has been interrupted or delayed, or is insufficient to achieve their current goals. General studies courses are designed to provide skills in reading, writing and mathematics that prepare students for college level work.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes enable adults to improve basic reading, writing and math skills and/or prepare for ASSET/COMPASS college placement tests.
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes help non-native speakers to communicate in English, to increase their understanding of American culture, to become employed and to continue their studies.
Note: These classes are available for immigrants. Non-immigrants should take the Intensive English Program (IEP) courses available through International Programs.
General Education Development (GED) preparation classes provide an opportunity for adults who have not graduated from high school to earn a GED.
NewHolly Learning Center, located on Beacon Hill, offers a variety of courses provided by the General Studies department, Career Link Academy and Worker Training.
