This $1000 scholarship if being offered to individuals enrolled (or already accepted) in a certificate or degree-granting college, university, or art school, who are specializing in painting, drawing, (e.g., watercolor, acrylics, or other water-based media, oil, pastels, charcoal, colored pencil). Photography and computer-generated art are excluded.
Scholarship Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited school majoring in art or pursuing a certificate in an established art academy.
- Completed application, with a statement of his or her background and future plans in the art world.
- Two reference letters. One letter from a person who can speak to the student’s art ability and promise, such as an instructor or advisor. The second letter can be a character reference.
- Finalists will be required to submit 5 examples of their artwork for review by the Seattle Co-Arts Scholarship Committee in mid May.

The funds for Veterans Education will provide up to $1,000,000.00 in the 2008 and 2009 academic years to help meet the financial need of veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan and Iraq since September 11, 2001 and who are now enrolled in college or vocational-technical school.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be veterans of any branch of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines), Coast Guard, National and Armed Forces Reserves.
- Have served and been deployed for at least 60 days in Afghanistan or Iraq after September 11, 2001, or be veterans who were deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq after September 11, 2001, but did not meet the 60-day active service period as a result of a service-related injury or condition incurred while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
- Be enrolled full-time or part-time.
- Have applied for and accepted all federal, state, and intuitional need-based grants and all available military educational benefits.

This scholarship is available for two eligible local students who have completed 2 years of College in the amount of $2800.
Students who have graduated in the Arlington/Standwood/Camano Island area or who currently reside there can apply for this scholarship.
The American Association of University Women has led the way for over 126 years in advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.
To be eligible, applicant must be residents of the Arlington/Stanwood/Camano Island are or they must be past graduates of Stanwood, Lincoln Hill, Lakewood, or Arlington High Schools. Must have two years of college or university by June 2008 and have verifiable plans to continue upper-division or graduate work at an accredited 4-year college or university in the fall of 2008. Applicants are asked to submit all transcripts, two confidential letters of recommendation, a brief personal statement, and a 300-word essay about their relationship to the AAUW mission.

The Post 4137 Veterans Foundation Scholarship is a tuition scholarship in the amount of $5,000 for persons in secondary education or college who are veterans, children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren of U.S. veterans. You will be notified by July 15, 2008 whether you have been selected to receive a scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements
1. To qualify you must be an honorably discharged veteran; or, a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild1 of an honorably discharged veteran on whose service your application is based.
2. You must be enrolled at or admitted to a private secondary educational institution, or a university, including community colleges, by April 1, 2008. The scholarship must be used beginning with either the 2008 summer or fall term, whether semester or quarter.
3. You must provide a legible copy of your or the veteran’s DD Form 2142 as proof of:
- your, his or her active duty service during World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Conflict; OR,
- your, his or her eligibility to receive, or receipt of, the Southwest Asia Service Medal. |
Deadline: Application must be received at the Post 4137 Veterans Foundation office by May 30, 2008 at 5:00 PM. You are responsible for making sure all of your materials are submitted on time.

Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE) |
The 2008 WAVE grant awards will provide tuition funding for four semesters or six quarters at a Washington State institution of higher education. The award value is based on which institution the student chooses to attend, and how many credits are taken. In addition to having three years to begin using the monetary award and six years to fully use the funds, award recipients can pay for any valid educational expense, such as tuition or books, supplies, room board, and transportation.

YMCA Transitions Scholarship
(for YMCA program participants in King County only) |
To apply for the YMCA Transitions Scholarship you must be enrolled in the YMCA Transition Program. YMCA Transitions provides housing, independent living skills development, career development and educational supports to young adults who have been in foster care. To learn more about the YMCA Transitions program contact (206) 749-7450. Participants are eligible to receive up to $4000 per year based on the participants financial need.
