South Seattle Community College is a public, state supported institution accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.
Every ten years the college participates in a comprehensive re-accreditation evaluation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). In the fall of 2000 South participated in this evaluation. During the interim years, the college works toward attaining the goals outlined in the institutional self-study as well as addressing areas of improvement recommended by the evaluation committee. The college was visited by a Commission accreditation review team in October 2005 for the required five-year interim progress report.
